FlexWATCH

What is the FlexWATCH?

The Flexwatch is a stand alone NVSS (network video streaming server) that can send real time video over any TCP/IP network such as your LAN, WAN, Internet, or Dialup connection.

FlexWatch

How is the FlexWATCH different than a web cam?
A traditional web cam is a $49.99 camera hooked to the USB port on your computer. The computer must always be on and running a program such as Netmeeting for viewers to logon. Also, a program installed on the remote computer is needed. This requires a download and install, which can often take a long time and be complicated to setup. Generally this only can handle once camera and the quality is poor.
The FlexWATCH has a RTOS (real time operating system) built-in so it does not need to be hooked to your computer in any way. You don't even need to have a computer on site for the FlexWATCH to operate. Remotely, you do not need any special software to connect and view video, all that is needed is Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. The FlexWATCH can also stream form 1 to 6 cameras simultaneously.

How can I use the FlexWATCH?
The FlexWATCH is extremely versatile and can be used in almost any application that you can dream up. It has been used in applications that range from monitoring radioactive rooms and explosion prone experimentation to monitoring day care facilities for parents to watch their children from work. Here is a short list of applications our customers have used FlexWATCH products for:
- Monitoring and creating time lapse video of construction projects
- Remote monitoring of off site buildings over wireless LAN
- Viewing and recording of 15 franchise restaurants at corporate office
- Monitoring day care facilities
- Remote monitoring of second homes

Do I have to install software to view the video?
The FlexWATCH can be viewed from any computer from anywhere in the world without having to install any software. It even has the ability to be viewed from any JAVA enabled device such as your PDA or cell phone. A Microsoft Windows computer is required to record video from the FlexWATCH Voyager or the FlexWATCH Manager, but viewing can be done from any Mac, Unix, Linux, OS/2, and many other operating systems.

What type of cameras will work with the FlexWATCH?
Almost any type of camera can be used to plug into the back of the FlexWATCH and be viewed remotely. Digital cameras produce a better quality picture, but old analog cameras work with the FlexWATCH as well. The FlexWATCH will accept both NTSC and PAL signals and only need a BNC connector on the end of the cable to interface with the FlexWATCH.

The FlexWATCH has the ability to control pan/tilt/zoom cameras, can I make any camera do that?
The FlexWATCH does have the ability to control PTZ cameras from any manufacturer, but cannot control stationary cameras that are not specifically designed to pan, tilt, and zoom. The camera itself has special functions and motors to move or zoom when the FlexWATCH tells it what to do.

How easy is it to get the FlexWATCH operating right out of the box?
The only item that needs to be configured for the FlexWATCH for it to be operational is its IP address. This can be done in any of 4 different ways depending on your skill level, but the easiest takes about 30 seconds with a program that is supplied on the CD included with each unit.
